St. Luke's Outreach is tied closely to the mission of our congregation - "Members of St. Luke's Lutheran Church, in response to Christ's love, reach out in service to each other, the community and the world. Below are activities which support this mission.

  • breaking  the  chains

    • Location:  Inside Felmers O. Chaney Correctional Institution Center
    • What is This?:  This ministry prepares the men to be ready to return to society after incarceration. 
    • What Do We Do?: We have individuals trained to be assisting ministers for worship and Bible study. There may be opportunities for others to receive this training in the future.

  • MT.  MERU  COFFEE

    • What is This?  The Project provides small farmers with a fair price for their premium coffee. This fair-trade price provides an increase in farm income, allowing the farmers to educate their children, access healthcare, and support their families with dignity. Purchasing and drinking Mt. Meru Premium Tanzanian Coffee is the single most important way in which individuals, congregations and businesses can support thousands of family coffee farmers in Tanzania.  (information taken from www.mtmeru.org)

    • What is This?  We sponsor a child in Tanzania Kia. Through our donations Kia is able to receive an education, medical care, and key life skills training/mentoring. 
    • Where Do We Get The Money?  Through fundraising, Noisy Offerings, and group donations we are able to pay $38 a month to help this young man. 
    • How Do I Give Now?  Place donations in the bucket located in the gathering space,  Venmo money to @StLukes-LutheranChurch with "Kia" in the memo line, or mail a money to St. Luke's (checks made out to St. Luke's Lutheran Church.)

    • Location:  1025 E Oklahoma Ave.  -  Milwaukee
    • What is This?:  Unity Lutheran Church offers a meal every Wednesday evening. They also have clothing and food banks, and community resources to assist those in need . 
    • What Does St. Luke's Do?:  We serve a meal the 5th Wednesday of every month.

  • Food  drives

    • What Do We Do?   We have a continuous collection of food items for First Lutheran Church in West Allis - there is a designated spot in the upper parking lot entrance foyer. In mid fall we have had collections of food that is distributed to families at Hephatha Lutheran Church.  As a result of the COVID19 Pandemic we have switched to gift cards for families, until it is safe again.

  • THE  GIVING  TREE

    At Christmas time, members are invited to take a card off the giving tree. Each card includes a child's name or family with Christmas gift ideas. Gifts are bought, wrapped, and returned. Once all the cards have been taken everyone is invited to fill the tree with hats, scarves, mittens, and underwear to be distributed to our friends and Hephatha Lutheran Church.
